The Truth About Being Uncomfortable
Hello hello! Ever have an event take an unexpected turn? During a recent monthly Saturday deep dive with my women's group, I found myself solo with our very wise teacher for the first half. Instead of exploring a defined topic as usual, we somehow delved into and unlocked an old, unconscious issue that I’d packed away for many years.
In the weeks ahead, I faced childhood truths and began reshaping old (stubborn!) beliefs, which required getting comfortable in the uncomfortable. It took me a minute, as humans, we all intuitively avoid discomfort. But the thing is, getting comfortable with discomfort is absolutely essential for our growth. It’s how we learn who we are, what matters most, and who we want to become. Six things truths about discomfort:
Beauty Of Surrender. Instead of fighting it, when we surrender it’s actually an easier journey. Sometimes we fight so hard to not have the experience that life becomes much more exhausting than it has to.
Trusting The Light In the Dark. Remembering that no matter the situation there is always light - a gift, a learning, something beautiful. So trust the process and allow it to unfold.
Growth Edges. Discomfort is a sign we’re pushing our growth edges. Those times where we may initially feel resistance we can remind ourselves “I’m going to be a better version of me on the other side”. It holds true.
Greater Self Awareness. Sitting in the discomfort allows for self awareness and introspection. In this juicy space we can begin seeing what is happening inside of us - old patterns, outdated thoughts that don’t serve; things that keep us stuck.
Resilience. We build a muscle of resilience and learn how to handle other hard things in life without getting so overwhelmed. We become STRONGER!!
Compassion. When we experience our own challenges it gives us the ability to recognize this in others and cultivate more empathy.
Discomfort really is a vital part of our journey! While we “came down” to have this human experience to know joy and live with light, our souls also came down to gain wisdom and evolve. It's an inherent part of the pact we made prior to our arrival! So the question is how easy or hard do we make it on ourselves?
Learning to be comfortable with the uncomfortable is like building a muscle. It gets easier with practice, and navigating through it is the only way to reach a place where more peace, alignment, and joy reside. If you're seeking support on this journey, let's talk and we can build a roadmap tailored to your path. This life we have is really just a game, and we have all of the control of how we want to play it!
With love, warmth, and light, always!
